Frequently asked questions
What is a NOTAM?
A NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions) is an official notice telling flight crews about temporary hazards or changes at an airport or in the airspace — runway closures, unserviceable navaids, cranes, airspace restrictions or lighting outages.
How do I search NOTAMs by ICAO code?
Enter the four-letter ICAO location indicator of the airport, for example KJFK for New York JFK or EDDF for Frankfurt, and Avio retrieves the currently active notices for that location.
Is this NOTAM search free?
Yes. This public search returns live notices without an account. Route-wide briefings, weather, charts and manual-grounded answers are part of the Avio app.
Can I use this for flight planning?
No. This tool is advisory only. Always use your operator's approved briefing sources and the official AIS provider for dispatch and flight planning decisions.
Advisory use only. Not a substitute for an official pre-flight briefing, the AFM or approved operator manuals.
